We are partnering with several clients seeking experienced Trades Assistants to support field crews in the inspection, maintenance, repair, and minor construction of a wide range of civil structures including bridges, boardwalks, jetties, piers, stairs, and other civil structures.

This casual role is ideal for someone with experience in bridge or civil construction/ maintenance. At times, you will be required to work away from home across the South West region from Monday to Friday, with weekends spent at home. All accommodation, travel, and a daily living‑away‑from‑home allowance are provided.

You’ll be joining a small, tight‑knit team where flexibility, reliability, and a willingness to learn are essential. The work is varied, hands‑on, and suited to someone who enjoys contributing wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist trades and technical staff with bridge and civil structure inspections
• Support maintenance and repair activities involving timber, concrete, and steel components
• Operate and maintain a range of hand and power tools
• Carry out minor construction tasks under supervision
• Perform manual handling duties and outdoor labouring in varying weather conditions
• Contribute to a small, tight‑knit crew with a strong focus on teamwork, safety, and adaptability
• Follow safe work procedures and maintain a clean, organised work environment

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant in construction, mechanical, or maintenance environments
• Demonstrated competency using a variety of hand tools and basic equipment
• Good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors for extended periods
• A genuine interest or experience in working with timber and concrete
• A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and readiness to assist wherever needed

Essential Requirements

• Current and valid driver’s licence (C Class essential; HR desirable)
• Construction Industry White Card
• Working at Heights and Basic Rigging tickets – highly desirable but not essential
• Willingness to work away from home when required.
• Experience in bridge, civil, or structural maintenance
