The Project

Albemarle is currently constructing a lithium hydroxide production plant within the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area near the Western Australian city of Bunbury. The commissioning of the Kemerton site is expected to start in stages during the course of 2021, and by the end of 2021 the plant is expected to be producing battery grade lithium hydroxide to support the world's growing electric vehicle and battery storage markets. Kemerton trains 1 & 2 are part of the MARBL Lithium JV, a 60:40 joint venture between Albemarle and Mineral Resources Limited.

The Role

The Contract Specialist will be responsible for delivering contracts across a wide range of products and services that contribute to the safety, quality, reliability and profitability of a greenfield site. The role works with the Supply Chain team (local and global) as well as HSET, Production, Maintenance, Quality and other teams to scope, tender, negotiate, execute and manage contracts. Supporting a new operational site, the role will require balancing the need to complete many contracts with the opportunity to shape the contract landscape.

The Candidate

To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum 5 years contracting / procurement experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, chemical or other relevant industry
  • SAP experience or similar procurement related software systems
  • Experience working in a green-fields or major brown-fields project environment
  • Intermediate / Advanced MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Some experience working in a dotted-line capacity or in mixed local/global environments
  • Strong awareness of local market across a range of requirements to quickly and accurately identify vendor options
